Stephen Lowthian. Webmaster of: The 'Oliver!' Online Souvenir Book.
Born October 1955 and raised in Newcastle upon Tyne. I 'consider myself' a Geordie at heart. I remember my school days as something of an ordeal (though there were some good memories) and so I was eager to leave and begin earning my keep. At the tender age of 16. I entered 'film exhibition' working as a trainee cinema technician for Great Britain's 'Odeon' cinema chain.
I first saw 'Oliver!' whilst on holiday with my parents in Torquay. As a 13-year-old avid 'Doctor Who' and science fiction fanatic I remember recoiling at the notion of seeing such a movie. However, my prejudice was soon swept aside by the music, songs and shear spectacle of the production I came away simply...spellbound.
So why the website? Working in cinema gave me the opportunity and interest to collect certain memorabilia and particularly a rather unique collection of photos from 'Oliver!'. When the time came to create a website of my own and begin to explore the multimedia capabilities I could think of only one choice...'Oliver!'.
